One way I try to save when purchasing clothes for our family is to buy clothes when they are going out of season. I wait for the big clearance sale, and buy for next year. Many stores are now getting rid of all of their summer items. Children's Place is now launching their Monster sale of 50% off already marked down prices. Sometimes I get lucky and buy tops or shorts for $.99 each.
